A woman killed in a March shootout with a Nashville police officer died in surgery after being shot four times, an autopsy released Friday shows.
An autopsy, conducted March 13 by Davidson County Senior Associate Medical Examiner Miguel Laboy, shows Nika Holbert s cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds. Laboy wrote in his report Holbert was struck twice in the back and twice in the left buttock and thigh area.
Investigators said Holbert, 31, shot Metro Nashville Police Department Field Training Officer Josh Baker in the stomach during a traffic stop around 9:30 a.m. March 12 and he returned fire.
Body camera footage showed Baker instructing Holbert to hand over her handbag and informing her of his active body camera. After discovering what appeared to be drugs, Baker attempted to detain Holbert and called for backup. He fired his stun gun at her before the two exchanged gunfire.
