Hamilton County Schools Announces Personnel Updates Thursday, April 29, 2021 Bethanie Reynolds As the district looks to the 2021-2022 school year, Hamilton County Schools announced several personnel updates on Thursday. Angie Cass has been named the principal at Soddy Daisy High School. She previously served as principal of Ooltewah High School. Ms. Cass is a product of Hamilton County Schools and a 23-year veteran of the district. Throughout her career, she has worked as a teacher, district curriculum coach, assistant principal and principal at a variety of schools in the district. While Cass served as principal at East Ridge Middle, she led the school to become a Reward School in 2016-2017 and back-to-back years at Level 5 status. She also held the role of assistant principal of Soddy Daisy High School for four years. Cass’ accomplishments include being named TSSAA District 3 A.F. Bridges Principal of the Year (2019), serving as an HCS Mentor Principal

Former Titan Kevin Dyson named new Centennial High School principal

Nashville Tennessean Former Tennessee Titans player turned educator Kevin Dyson will be Centennial High School s new principal beginning July 1. Williamson County Schools Superintendent Jason Golden made the announcement Thursday.  I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a great school like Centennial High and reassert myself into the community where I have much familiarity and admiration, Dyson said in WCS s InFocus newsletter. After a six-year career in the NFL and becoming well-known for his part in the Music City Miracle, he began his education career in 2006. Dyson was a teacher, coach and administrator at both private and public schools across Davidson and Rutherford counties before landing in Williamson. At WCS, he served as Independence High School s assistant principal for four years before being named principal of Grassland Middle School in 2019.

Atlanta-based development company Mill Creek Residential has landed another major permit for its Modera Gulch, under construction and expected to be completed in early 2023. The 15-story tower will rise at 810 Division St. adjacent to the back of the Party Fowl structure. Mill Creek s permit is valued at about $52.1 million and follows the issuing of a $17.1 million permit about which the Post reported in April. MCRT Tennessee Construction is the general contractor. Modera Gulch (pictured) will offer 378 residential units, 18,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial/retail space and 592 parking spaces. The local office of Raleigh-based engineering firm Kimley-Horn and Atlanta-based land-planning and architecture company Cooper Carry are participating.

Lee s Mark Brew Gets 600th Win, Goes After 700 Saturday, April 24, 2021 - by George Starr It is no secret why Lee University head baseball coach Mark Brew has stepped in and continued to win games year after year after replacing his mentor and former Lee head coach David Altopp 16 years ago. During Altopp’s final five seasons the Flames won over 40 games each year, including a 55-win season in 2005, when Lee earned a berth in the NAIA College World Series for the first time.  Altopp and Brew have a long history together. During his playing days, Brew had a successful four-year career at Trevecca Nazarene University under Coach Altopp. In 1990, Brew was the top hitter for the Trevecca baseball team. He was also the closer for the Trojans for four years.
