Subscriber only A man accused of killing another man after a high speed crash has had his case mentioned in court. Shannon James Murray, 30, is facing charges number of charges including manslaughter, dangerous driving causing death, speeding more than 45km/h over the speed limit, drink driving, failing to stop and help after a fatal crash, cause bodily by misconduct and driving on a licence which had been expired for two years or more, speeding and negligent driving. It is alleged on August 4, 2020, Mr Murray was driving on the Pacific Highway, near Kennedy Drive in Tweed Heads, when he crashed into another car.

Subscriber only A Tweed Heads man is lucky to be alive after a home invasion resulted in him being stabbed in the neck. Matthew Taylor, 24, was still recovering from his injury when he was taken into custody Tweed Heads Local Court heard on March 12. Court documents reveal, on the night of April 16, 2020 at 8.50pm the victim was alone in his lounge room when he heard a noise coming from the front door as though someone was trying to enter. He arose to inspect and Taylor and another unknown male entered. A scuffle immediate broke out in the front hallway of the home - the victim fearing injury grabbed a chair for defence.

Subscriber only A North Coast trio accused of supplying cocaine have had their case delayed for another month in court last week. Suffolk Park man Scott Edward Biber, 57, Broken Head man Michael Robert Birch, 67, and Lennox Head man Philip David Emanuele, 50, are each facing numerous charges related to the alleged supply of cocaine in the Byron Bay area. Philip David Emanuele leaves Tweed Heads Courthouse on March 12, 2021. Police will allege Mr Biber was found with 1.1kg of cocaine in his possession on January 9 last year. It is alleged he had the drug concealed in a fire extinguisher at the time.
