Man shot near Starkville apartment A man was shot near a Starkville apartment complex Saturday. Starkville Police Department officers heard shots coming from the area near Brooksville Garden Apartments on Everglade Avenue in Starkville at 9:27 p.m. and responded to the incident. SPD Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady said one man had been shot in the thigh and was taken out of the area for treatment. This shooting is the most recent incident in a string of violent crimes over the past few weeks. This event happened only five days after a gunman fired more than 20 shots into a vehicle at another apartment complex, Reed Place Apartments on Reed Ridge Circle April 12, and less than two weeks after James Clifton Hester Files, 17, was shot and killed on Easter Sunday.
