Beware of cybercrimes through messages - ITSSL Daily News (via HT Media Ltd.)
While the Covid-19 is spreading throughout the country as the third wave, internet users are warned to be vigilant of cyber related crimes, Information Technology Society of Sri Lanka (ITSSL) said.
The ITSSL said the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) also has taken action to educate the public on such crimes taking place these days.
Most of the crimes have taken place through messages sent to internet users saying that some commodities with high demand are given free as gifts.
The ITSSL requests users to use unpredictable passwords for their social media and e-mail accounts, to activate the two-factor authentication, not to provide credit and debit card details for unsecured websites and not to follow directions given through such unknown messages for free gifts in order to prevent their accounts being hacked or disclosed to a third party.
