Vietnam has five data center systems meeting Uptime Tier 3 standards, but this is the first time a data center in Vietnam has met Uptime Tier 3 standards in both design and construction.

HTC International Telecommunication Joint Stock Company (HTC-ITC) has officially put into operation its Eco Data Center in Hanoi-based Lang - Hoa Lac high-tech Park. This is the first data center in Vietnam that meets Uptime Tier 3 standards in both design and construction-operation.

Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung said that platforms used in digital technology need to be born from the pains of society and solve challenges facing society.
The message was conveyed by Dung at the first event of the Vietnam digital technology’s challenges Forum, held on April 9.
The forum is the new face of the Technology Friday series organized in 2020. It has a new name – Vietnam digital technology’s challenges, aiming to look for technological answers to Vietnamese questions.

Unique ceramic streets in Lien Mac village

Residents of Lien Mac village in Hanoi’s Bac Tu Liem district have been busy collecting discarded materials such as ceramics, bottles, and dishes to decorate the village’s streets.
Starting in last November, villagers began using use fragments of old vases, dishes, and bowls that had been thrown away to create a ceramic wall along an alleyway. More than 20 mosaic walls have now been completed, helping to beautify the village.

A forum on Vietnam’s digital challenges took place on April 9, a follow-up of a chain of technological events initiated by the Ministry of Information and Communications in 2020.
Aimed at introducing Make in Vietnam digital platforms, the forum informed participants on a smart transport management platform developed by the Vietnamese-based An Vui Technology JSC since 2015.
The technology facilitates the operation of the long-distance passenger transport industry, helping businesses involved step up digital transformation and scientific management, reduce social waste, and improve competitiveness.
To date, the 20-module platform is serving 150 transport firms, which operate more than 4,000 coaches nationwide.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung stressed 2020 was the year when the national digital transformation was kicked off and this year is the time for action.

Digital transition expected to keep Vietnamese M&A market humming

At the start of the year a report in the Korea Times newspaper said Vingroup is likely to acquire LG’s smartphone manufacturing plants in Vietnam, China and Brazil.
Vingroup, one of Vietnam’s biggest conglomerates, was seeking to expand into the high-tech sector through the acquisition of the state-of-the-art facilities, improve its global smartphone competitiveness and use the Brazilian and Chinese plants to enter regional markets.
But it later reported that the talks were off after Vingroup reportedly asked for too low a price.
