BRANDON, S.D. – Governor Kristi Noem stopping in Brandon Tuesday morning to tour a newly completed broadband facility.
Her tour through Alliance Communications highlights the Governor’s efforts to bring sustainable high-speed internet access to all South Dakotans, especially those in rural areas.
Between public and private partnerships and funding, the state has invested over $20 million dollars and utilized $30 million dollars in CARES Act funds to expand the Connect SD program.
“It was challenging for us,” said Gov. Kristi Noem, “It was challenging for us to recruit people, to live in those areas. It was challenging for us to educate those kids and then we were looking to streamline healthcare services, mental health services, in the state of South Dakota and could not do that without high speed internet access.”
