An accelerated broadband investment programme could bring thousands of jobs and improve digital connectivity across the north-east and Highlands, according to Scottish Labour leadership hopeful Monica Lennon.
Outlining her proposals to ‘Re-connect Scotland’, Ms Lennon said her plan could deliver 23,000 jobs over two years and dramatically speed up the rollout of full fibre broadband across Scotland.

Former General Secretary of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions David Begg has been appointed Chairperson of the Workplace Relations Commission.
The appointment for a five-year term was announced by Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment Damien English.
Mr Begg replaces Paul Duffy, who chaired the WRC from 2015.
The appointment was made following an open recruitment campaign carried out by the Public Appointments Service.
Alongside this latest appointment, Mr Begg chairs the Pensions Authority, the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and the Fire Service National Oversight Implementation Group of the Department of the Environment.
