LeBlanc conducted the swearing-in ceremony in Halifax Tuesday morning. Rankin is the 29th premier of the province; his cabinet, which has 16 ministers, is a mix of new and old faces. It includes the two other candidates he beat for the provincial Liberal leadership Feb. 6- Randy Delorey is the province’s new justice minister and the minister of labour relations, while Labi Kousoulis becomes finance minister. Other familiar faces include Kelly Regan as deputy premier, Zach Churchill as health and wellness minister, which includes the new office of mental health and addictions, and Lloyd Hines, the former transportation minister whose portfolio becomes transportation and active transit.

New Premier, Cabinet and Vision for Nova Scotia Iain Rankin was sworn in as Nova Scotia’s 29 th Premier today, Feb. 23. His 16-member cabinet, in revamped roles and departments, support his vision for a dynamic and prosperous Nova Scotia. Lt.-Gov. Arthur J. LeBlanc presided over the ceremony at Halifax’s Convention Centre, which followed COVID-19 protocols. I am honoured to be serving with these dedicated people who, as a team, are excited and ready to get to work on behalf of all Nova Scotians,” said Premier Rankin. The changes made in government today are a first step in fulfilling my promise to put the province on track for a successful economic recovery from the global pandemic.”
