Army connecting tactical and enterprise networks for multidomain operations The U.S. Army is working to unify its enterprise and tactical networks. (Devon Bistarkey/U.S. Army) WASHINGTON – The U.S Army is changing its approach to network modernization to prepare for future fights in multidomain environments, focusing on unifying its tactical and enterprise networks. According to Lt. Gen. John Morrison, the deputy chief of staff of the Army for the G-6, the service is shifting its network modernization effort to view enterprise and tactical networks as a unified body. With a united network, data can seamlessly flow from the Army’s U.S. bases down to the tactical edge. A unified network is critical to enable multidomain operations, where sensors and shooters will be connected, according to top IT leaders.

4 A U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command partnership with an arm of the Defense Logistics Agency will significantly reduce delivery time on necessary parts while simultaneously saving millions of dollars. DLA Aviation – Huntsville and AMCOM Logistics Center have worked in unison for several years at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. A nine-year contract vehicle intended to streamline sole-source spare parts was finalized in late 2020. “On the local level, we are talking about the partnership between AMCOM ALC and our depot-level repair contracting office here on Redstone,” said George Scheers, DLA Aviation – Huntsville director of procurement operations. DLA Aviation – Huntsville supports aviation and missile platforms and procures approximately $1.2 billion per year of new spare parts on behalf of ALC.
