All the winners at Swindon and Wiltshire Health & Social Care Awards 2021

Hundreds tuned into the online ceremony which was live streamed on Facebook this evening. The awards, that champion teams and individuals that have gone above and beyond the call of duty during the Covid pandemic, were presented by Dr Hilary Jones MBE. After the ceremony he said: “It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to be able to host the awards. “This year perhaps more than any other it is time to recognise and celebrate the outstanding and magnificent work of all health and social care workers during the pandemic. “I am in awe of all they have achieved and the country owes them a massive debt of gratitude.”

£5k for Age UK to tackle loneliness in elderly in Lockdown 3

LONELINESS in the elderly is being combated as Age UK Wiltshire received £5,000 for its Click and Connect project. Retain Healthcare handed the charity for older people the cheque so it could tackle social isolating by giving older people technology such as tablets to communicate with their loved ones. David Trowbridge, managing director of Retain, said: “Social isolation is known to have a large impact in a person’s overall health and wellbeing, and so by helping to combat this we hope to see a knock-on effect on the rest their lives too. “By working with Age UK Wiltshire on this project, we are able to refer the people we think would be open to improving the technology they have in their homes. Additionally, we hope that once using the technology becomes second nature for the older people we care for, that they can also pass on these skills to their friends and family, so spreading the positive impact of the project.”

Age UK Wiltshire receives £5,000 to help combat loneliness

Age UK Wiltshire has received £5,000 to go towards using digital technology to combat loneliness. Retain Healthcare donated the money to assist with the charity s ‘Click & Connect’ project. that identifies older people in the county who would benefit from the use of technology, and who are keen to embrace this technology to improve their lives. Through the programme Age UK Wiltshire will identify suitable equipment, internet access and technical ability and also signpost to any grants or state benefits that a customer could apply for and to support them with an application.
