Australians are being asked to think about just how many locally made products they buy each week, as the inaugural Australian Made Week kicks off.
With consumers finding it difficult to import products into the country since the beginning of COVID-19, many local producers and businesses are stepping up to fill the void.
One of those businesses include Gold Coast-based gym equipment manufacturer AlphaFit, which currently employs 85 local staff.

The Whitsundays will facilitate Queensland’s first foray into the multi-trillion-dollar global space industry, after a feasibility study found a site at Abbot Point, north of Bowen, is suitable for rocket launches.
Deputy Premier Steven Miles said the government was committed the development of launch infrastructure, and keen to work with private investors and local stakeholders on a plan for the Abbot Point site, with venture-backed Gilmour Space Technologies already expressing significant interest.
Mr Miles said the government’s aim was to “position the state to have the potential to meet longer-term, broader industry requirements” and this may result in multiple launch facilities being developed, likely along the coast.

Fitness star Ashy Bines has hit back after being accused of missing the mark for sharing that she felt insecure wearing jeans.
The Gold Coast-based influencer posted a video to Instagram and TikTok this week revealing she felt self-conscious and ashamed of her rolls and excess skin .
Bines told news.com.au she decided to post the video after she noticed my jeans collecting dust at the back of my wardrobe .
