DISCUSSIONS are to take place between the defence and prosecution in the case against a man charged over a double fatality on the North Coast.
Richard Alexander Davis, 29, from Brunswick Heads, is yet to enter formal pleas to his charges, including two counts each of manslaughter, dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.
He is also charged with not keeping left of a dividing line, not keeping left of a median strip and not turning right from the correct side of a centre line.
Mr Davis was not required to appear in Tweed Heads Local Court when his case was mentioned on Wednesday.

Subscriber only A MAN who told police he fell asleep at the wheel before a serious head-on crash near Brunswick Heads will remain behind bars until next year. Aaron Joseph Baker, 36, was driving a Ford Focus north on Gulgan Rd at Brunswick Heads when he crossed to the wrong side of the road and collided head-on with a Hyundai i30 being driven by a 75-year-old man on the morning of Saturday, April 18 this year. A third car was damaged after the i30 spun around but that driver was uninjured. The 75-year-old was trapped in his car for some time and sustained serious injuries.

Premium Content  A BABY boy was critically injured after ingesting a significant amount of the drug ice during a visit to a Glitter Strip unit complex with his mother, police allege. Detectives from the Gold Coast Child Protection Investigation Unit on Wednesday charged the 20-year-old mum after a month-long investigation. Police will allege the woman visited a Hamilton Ave unit complex at Surfers Paradise with her 12-month-old baby on November 6. Police allege the baby boy ingested a âsignificantâ amount of the drug ice. Acting Detective Inspector Troy Penrose, of the Vulnerable Persons and Domestic Violence Unit, said police would allege the child consumed a significant quantity of methamphetamine while at the unit.
