Serious traffic crash appeal, Broadbeach
Forensic Crash Unit officers investigating a serious crash involving a truck and a cyclist this afternoon (May 25) are appealing for anyone with dashcam vision to contact them.
Preliminary inquiries indicate just before 1pm a female cyclist and a prime mover were travelling north on the Gold Coast Highway when the truck went to turn into Casino Drive.
The 32-year-old woman suffered injuries to her leg and abdomen.
She was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
The 42-year-old driver and sole occupant of the semi-trailer was not injured.
Police are appealing for anyone with dash cam vision or further information to come forward.
Trawler crew forced to jump into rough Gold Coast waves
A Queensland skipper and his two deckhands have been forced to jump from their fishing trawler after getting stuck on rough waves on the Gold Coast.
The crew have described the moment a freak wave smashed the boat, shutting down its power and leaving them at the mercy of mother nature. Out of nowhere, it just smashed (the boat), Deckhand Jordan Craig told 9News. A freak wave just came along, deckhand Tahnee Rolph said.
Water police and paramedics scrambled from both land and sea to meet the crew moments after they jumped off the ship into the rough waters, with the boat soon after running around.
