The Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome walking track at Sheridan College has been opened again to the public.
Public access to the college campus, including the Golden Dome, has been limited because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but the track will now be open to the public from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays.
The track will be closed to the public on weekends. The gym and locker rooms remain closed to the public, according to the college.
Also according to the college, visitors must follow current campus safety guidelines, including wearing a face covering, maintaining social distance and not coming to the campus when sick.

House Insurance Committee
The House Insurance Committee, chaired by Representative Eddie Lumsden (R-Armuchee) met this morning to consider a single measure.
HB 205, authored by Representative Noel Williams (R-Cordele) relates to new standards for travel insurance. The bill is a NAIC model act for travel insurance endorsed by the Georgia department of Insurance. It clarifies standards for permitting consumers to opt out of coverage offered by travel agents or carriers. The bill passed unanimously.
House Agricultural and Consumer Affairs
Newly named Chairman of the House Agricultural and Consumer Affairs, Representative Robert Dickey (R-Musella), held his first Committee meeting stating from the outset that he had large shoes to fill with recently retired Chairman Tom McCall (R-Elberton). For Matthew Yarbrough, piecing together a career under the Gold Dome is about a persistent passion for politics. It’s definitely not about permanence.
“If you are looking to actually work in the state legislature, just know that the institution isn’t designed for your employment,” Yarbrough told Project Q. “That’s the least accessible part of working in local politics. It’s hard to financially sustain yourself.”
State House representatives earn about $17,000 a year. That means little to no discretionary income to hire staff, Yarbrough said.
