Taking a few minutes out of your day to take a walk offers a wide range of health benefits. Boost mental health “Walking just 10 minutes a day boosts the chemicals in your brain that help to improve mood and combat depression,” James Cummings, MHSC social worker sai.

Sweetwater County Commissioners Approve CARES Act Funding for Local Charitable Organizations

SWEETWATER COUNTY  The Sweetwater County Commissioners hosted a special meeting Friday morning to review applicants for the Charitable Organization Relief Program, which is Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funded program being provided to charitable and non-profit organizations that have been impacted by the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic. Sweetwater County was allocated $932,414 by the state under the program. Population metrics were used to designate the allocations to the counties. The Charitable Organization Relief Program provides funding for charitable and non-profit organizations that provide a public service or has seen a decline in donations during the pandemic. The County Commissioners are responsible for making distribution decisions.

The mission of Golden Hour Senior Center is to create a better everyday life for people 55 and older through interaction, access, referral, socialization, education, activity and nutrition. Due to the pandemic, GHSC was forced to drastically limit their typically robust activities for Seniors. This removed access to critical social interaction for our Seniors.
