After CVS announced it will begin administering coronavirus vaccines to Virginians ages 65 and older on Friday, February 12, many people were left wondering why they don’t qualify for these vaccinations even though they’re at high risk.
The rush to get a COVID-19 vaccine appointment at a CVS Pharmacy in Virginia began early Tuesday, Feb. 9, and according to some, slots filled up very quickly.
As the state continues working to administer vaccinations, Governor Ralph Northam announced Friday that a robust call center is in the works to help people get signed up for their shot.

WASHINGTON It’s Wednesday, January 27, and today Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam – facing criticism over the commonwealth’s slow vaccine roll out – announced he’s told the Virginia Department of Health to build a single, statewide web portal for vaccination appointments.
This blog reported on Monday that only five states had administered fewer doses per 100,000 people than Virginia. The commonwealth ranked last in the nation for the percentage of shots it has received that have been administered – only about 42% as the beginning of the week.

The Hudson County Vaccine Task Force, overseen by Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise and the Hudson Regional Health Commission, officially began administering the COVID-19 vaccine to health care workers in Phase 1A of the state’s vaccination program.
Kathy Gerbasio, a Secaucus High School nurse who has tested thousands of individuals since March at Hudson County’s COVID-19 testing site at Hudson Regional Hospital, was the first person to receive the Moderna vaccine at the site.
