Fact-checking Biden’s speech announcing new executive actions on gun control
In the wake of another series of mass shootings around the US, President Joe Biden announced several gun-control focused executive actions on Thursday.
The actions include expanding background checks for certain types of guns, regulating stabilizing braces built for pistols, making new investments in intervention programs for violence-prone communities, and creating model “red flag” legislation for states to pass.

Debunking myths about vaccines

The nation has started administering COVID-19 vaccines. Most people expect the vaccine to be effective in preventing outbreaks and getting everyone’s lives back to normal. However, the following popular myths and misunderstandings need to be clarified based on scientific observations in the fields of epidemiology, public health and immunology.
The first myth is that when you have been vaccinated, you can go ahead and travel anywhere without fear of contracting COVID-19.
However, vaccines are not 100 percent effective. Some vaccines can give 95 percent protection, but this means they are ineffective for 5 percent of those who receive them.
When you ask somebody why they are choosing to take the covid vaccine or why they are wearing a mask, they may respond, “because science.” The next question to ask is, how many of these people have actually gone through the science of vaccines and whether or not masks may be an effective tool for limiting the spread of COVID?
From what I see, the majority of people receive their information from mainstream media organizations, which are organizations that have strong ties to pharmaceutical corporations and governments, and are known for presenting one perspective that favours a particular agenda while completely ridiculing the other. They sometimes go as far as labelling another perspective as a “conspiracy theory” despite the fact that there is ample, credible evidence to support the claims of that perspective. A Belgian court has ruled that the current COVID-19 measures being deployed don t have a sound legal basis. The State has 30 days to lift restrictions or face fines.
