Chatham Town Council apologizes to town for hiring Inframark, regret it every day

CHATHAM, Va. — If you ve spent any time in Chatham since the ice storms of mid-February, chances are you ve seen massive piles of dead foliage cluttering the roads. At Chatham s monthly town council meeting Monday night, Inframark, the town s public works contractor, was unreservedly admonished by council members for what they called complacency of the highest order. The town looks terrible. It looks like a war zone, said Mayor Will Pace. Chatham prides itself on being the prettiest little town in Southside Virginia. It s not anymore. Pace demanded Inframark finish debris removal by the end of this week. The fact that there are more branches and limbs on South Main Street than the entire town of Gretna altogether really bothers me. I m sick of seeing it, Pace said.

PURA To Discuss Slight Water Credit For Some Farmington Homes Patch 3/9/2021 Chris Dehnel © Chris Dehnel/Patch Some water customers in Farmington could soon see a surcredit on their bills. FARMINGTON, CT The Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority is scheduled to decide on a slight adjustment for some Connecticut Water Co. customers Wednesday. The adjustment is for the reconciliation of Water Infrastructure and Conservation Adjustment, or WICA on some bills, for the customers of the former Avon Water Co. in Avon, Farmington, and Simsbury. WICA is a mechanism that allows utilities recovery for completed infrastructure replacement projects. If the WICA has charge generated revenues that were less than expected the reconciliation adjustment can be increased to true it up, Connecticut water spokesman Daniel Meaney said.

Lumberton receives funding for well replacement projects

Lumberton is one of several communities in the state to receive part of the $282 million in loans and grants created to help pay for drinking water and wastewater projects, according to Gov. Roy Cooper s office.  The city will receive $2,316,900 in principal forgiveness loan funding through the Additional Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief Act of 2019 to construct three wells outside of the flood plain in the city. The new wells would replace three old ones that are subject to flooding, according to a news release.  Governor Cooper approved the funding Feb. 23 after a State Water Infrastructure Authority meeting. The Authority, an independent nine-member group that awards federal and state funding for water infrastructure projects, also helps the state develop a state water infrastructure plan.
