Anderson approves one-year contracts with two unions

David Eicks ANDERSON The city of Anderson has reached a one-year contract agreement with two unions that will provide a 1% pay increase in 2021. The Anderson Board of Public Works on Wednesday approved contracts with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 1913 and Local 108 of the Utility Workers of America. The new contracts will take effect Jan. 1 and run through Dec. 31, 2021. Tom Brown, director of human resources, explained the contract provides for a 1% pay increase for 2021 base pay. That pay raise was approved earlier this year for all non-union city employees and elected officials. Brown said there were no changes to the contract.

Increase expected in water wastewater bill

Next year’s average bi-monthly water, waste water bill will rise $4.23 for residential customers if Greater Napanee council approves the 2021 Utilities Operating and Capital Budget. The extra amount represents a 2 per cent increase in charges for water and wastewater. Greater Napanee is maintaining healthy reserve balances, which can help with the funding of large scale capital like the Water Pollution Control Plant. Council will deal with the issue when it meets at Selby Community Hall 7pm January 12th – 7:00 p.m.

City receives bid for new sewer line along White River

Dec 17, 2020 ANDERSON The city of Anderson took bids under advisement for a proposed major sewer project along the White River from Edgewater Park to Scatterfield Road. The Board of Public Works received six bids ranging from a low of $2.6 million to $4.3 million for the project. Robin Goff of the Indianapolis engineering firm of Beam, Longest & Neff said her estimate of the project was $5 million. The following bids were received Thursdazy: Atlas Excavating, $2,619,703; Brackney Inc., $3,327,182; Cobalt Civil Engineering, $3,523,305; Cleary Construction, $3,638,500; Eagle Valley Inc., $3,945,000; and Lykins Construction, $4,325,055. Goff said work on the project will start with the removal of trees on the north side of the White River in January and has to be completed by April 1.
