Commander’s Corner – It’s All “A Boat” Safety
The warm temperatures are luring everyone outdoors and many boaters have already gotten their crafts wet. Whether you have a jet boat, a fishing boat, canoe or a kayak, establishing a safe boating checklist is essential. While a checklist for each type of boat may look a little different, being prepared for a day on the water is every boater’s responsibility.

If you are operating a boat with an engine, check to be sure the registration is current and that you have it with you. Remember, anyone driving a motorized boat is required to hold a current boating license. You can learn more about boat licenses and requirements online at www.alberta.ca/boating-overview.aspx. If you are fishing, you will need an up-to-date fishing license and you will be expected to follow the provincial regulations
