Earlier this year, Fisker Inc. and Foxconn announced they were about to revolutionize the EV industry. There was no feigned modesty in the announcement: their vehicle, which they called PEAR, would be revolutionary, high-quality, and very good value for money.

Fisker, Foxconn Ink EV Pact
Project promises to deliver $30,000 electric vehicle.
Today
California-based EV maker Fisker Inc. and Taiwan’s Foxconn Group signed an agreement to move forward with the joint development and manufacturing of a new electric vehicle.
Expect affordable EVs to be revealed soon.
Fisker hasn t really been the most successful EV manufacturer ever. The man behind the brand, Henrik Fisker, has had many failures in this endeavor, including recently having to admit defeat over solid-state batteries. But despite many adversities, the man and his company have shown us the Fisker Ocean, which is promised to feature advanced autonomous tech. Fisker has also partnered with Foxconn for its next car, and it s this partnership, called Project PEAR, that we re bringing you news of today. The two firms have signed framework agreements for that new car, with manufacturing to start here in the US from the fourth quarter of 2023 - and there s good news for semiconductors and chipsets too.
Project PEAR is slated to go into production in the fourth quarter of 2023, but a site hasn’t been selected yet. However, the automaker said several locations are under consideration in the United States and “other global manufacturing sites [are] under study for future production.”
If everything goes according to plan, the EV will be sold in major markets including North America, Europe, China and India. The company also intends to build more than 250,000 units annually.
While a lot of work still needs to be done, Fisker said several milestones have already been achieved including the freezing of Project PEAR’s exterior design. Sourcing is also underway and the company will rely heavily on Foxconn to secure chipsets and semiconductors.
Taipei, May 14 (CNA) Taiwan-based manufacturing giant Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. said Friday it has decided to establish an electronic vehicle production site in the United States in partnership with American EV maker Fisker Inc.
