Police stop suspected drunk driver, discover autonomous tech in control

“Drivers need to understand that they are responsible for what their vehicle is doing,” Const. Maury Tyre told Vancouver Island Free Daily. “There simply are no exceptions to this rule. If you wish to try out the new bells and whistles in your vehicle, an empty parking lot is going to be a lot safer than a public roadway, but even still, you are responsible for your vehicle. Modern transport has definitely added a lot of safety and comfort features over the years, but they are just not a replacement for an attentive driver.” It’s hard to blame anyone with an autonomously capable vehicle for trying the tech. Wouldn’t you?

Canadian Tire, Toronto-based startup and Ontario government join hands to invest $3 million in automated trucking technology

Published: March 16th, 2021 National retailer Canadian Tire and Toronto-based autonomous trucking startup NuPort Robotics have partnered with the Ontario government to commercialize automated trucking technology.
