future. New Zealand Water Safety Sector Strategy 2025 –
the water safety sectors collective approach to ensure
everyone connects to and enjoys the water safely.
This
is a significant event – As the lead agency Water Safety
New Zealand (WSNZ) has been working with the wider sector to
develop a collaborative approach to reduce drowning
fatalities and injuries in Aotearoa/New Zealand over the
next five years.
“Achieving this vision will address
the drowning problem in our country,” says WSNZ Board
Chair Maurice Kidd. “As New Zealanders and visitors, we
enjoy some of the most magnificent waterways in the world.

OVER £400k has been approved to support people facing difficulties because of the pandemic in Hampshire. A total of £459,870 in grant funding has been allocated to the voluntary and community sector across the county to help support vulnerable people. The grant is part of a £480m Contain Outbreak Management Fund given to local authorities by the Department of Health and Social Care to help reduce the spread of coronavirus and support local economies and public health. Councillor Andrew Joy, Hampshire County Council’s Executive Member for Communities, Partnerships and External Affairs, said he is delighted that the money has been donated to help the important work of the Voluntary Sector Network.
Over fifty inspiring individuals, groups and businesses have been recognised in Richmond’s 2020 Community Heroes’ Awards. Richmond Council received over 200 nominations for this year’s competition, which celebrates locals going the extra mile to make their community a better place. This year s awards took on the additional role of recognising the huge local response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nominations for the ten categories range from environmental projects to sporting activities, community initiatives and charity trustees. The winners are:
