The state-wide lockdown has impacted over five thousand roadside fast food sellers across the district, many of whom don t have ration cards and are thus facing difficulty to manage food grains to survive.
Those with ration cards however are also facing difficulty in managing medical expenses of ailing family members besides procuring vegetables and paying the rent of their accommodations with zero income during the lockdown.
A survey by the Dhanbad unit of National Association for Street Vendors Association of India indicated that only 50% of street vendors have ration cards.

Irregular power supply has affected the water supply from the Jamadoba based plant of Jharkhand Mineral Area Development Authority and Bhelatand based water treatment plant of Dhanbad Municipal Corporation.
Water supply remained suspended for three days in different localities of Jharia including Sabzi Mandi, Hetli Bandh, Poddar Para, Koiri Bandh, Fatehpur lane, Jharia Main road, Ghanudih, affecting more than five lakh residents.
In Dhanbad’s Putki area, water supply from the treatment plant of JMADA at Jamadoba was affected in the first week of April.

The Dhanbad Municipal Corporation has launched intensive sanitisation drive across 55 wards of the district, spread over five circles, including Jharia, Dhanbad, Sindri, Katras and Chhatatand, using an array of machines and vehicles.,
The civic body used two recently procured water sprinkler vehicles, eight tankers and around 308 hand spray machines to carry out the drive on Thursday.
The water sprinkler machines loaded with sodium hypochlorite solution sanitised the Randhir Verma Chowk, Sadar Hospital Road, Sadar Hospital, SDM court and Civil Court areas as well as other prominent roads of coal town. More than 100 auto rickshaw drivers on Monday carried out a day-long strike and staged a demonstration in front of Dhanbad Municipal Corporation protesting against collection of illegal parking fees and the lack of demarcated auto stops.
