Each submission must include the following: Date, time and location of event, whether it is recurring or a one-time happening, and where to go for more information (phone, email and/or website). Also include whether the event is free or paid admission, and how much it costs when applicable.
Festival of Birds makes its return to Detroit Lakes, May 20-22
The Detroit Lakes Festival of Birds will make its return to on May 20-22, after a one-year absence. Online registration closes Friday, May 14, with birders from seven different states already signed up.

The birders are coming! After the 2020 event was cancelled due to state and federally-mandated COVID-19 safety restrictions, the Festival of Birds returns to Detroit Lakes on May 20-22.

People just love it in Detroit Lakes.
“DL,” as the locals call it, is a laid-back place where folks are happy to hang out by the water in their flip-flops all summer long, and then just as happy to head to the hills in their ski boots in winter.
A prime example of Minnesota’s famous ‘lake culture,’ Detroit Lakes is a magnet for summer tourists. Boating, tubing, biking, beach-going there’s never a shortage of outdoor fun in the sun. The community’s mile-long beach, just blocks from downtown, along with its generous smattering of stores, restaurants and lakeside hotels and resorts, are all big draws for warm weather visitors.
Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge looking for volunteers
Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge is looking for a resident volunteer team to help with maintenance at the more than 42,000-acre preserve this summer. Duties would include: mowing entrances and accesses, maintaining facility grounds, and installing signage.

The refuge is looking for a resident volunteer team to assist with maintaining the more than 42,000-acre preserve from mid-May to mid-October, according to the park s Facebook page.
