As the clock ticked for Pawan Kirtani, a Delhi-based doctor, it was a question of getting the shot than whether he got Covishield or Covaxin vaccine. Kirtani is among those who got the vaccine soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the world’s largest adult immunisation drive on Saturday to fight Covid-19.

The Department of Public Health commenced vaccination of frontline health workers on Saturday.
With the Dean, Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital, M. Ravichandran receiving the first shot in the presence of Collector V. Vishnu and Deputy Director of Public Health, M. Varadharajan, the vaccination drive was kicked off with doctors, nurses and staff of TVMCH cheering.

Chennai, Jan 16 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami on Saturday said he too will get a vaccine shot against the Coronavirus.
Launching the Covid-19 vaccination drive in the state at Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai, Palaniswami told reporters that he too will get vaccinated against Coronavirus and added that the State had received 556,500 doses of vaccines 536,500 doses of Covishield and 20,000 doses of Covaxin.
Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar and others were also present at the hospital.
Tami Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami inaugurated the Covid-19 vaccination drive in Tamil Nadu at the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai today. The first shot was given to K. Senthil, president of the Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association. Dr C Vijayabaskar, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu said that the state health department has made arrangements for vaccination at 166 centres in the first phase. The vaccine shall be administered to healthcare workers in the first phase. Ten doctors, who are pioneers in Tamil Nadu shall be administered the vaccine to avoid anxiety among the public. The vaccine was tested for immunogenesis and safety and has passed all the trials.
