- Thousands of protesters marched in Myanmar over the weekend to oppose to the country s military coup and call for the release of imprisoned Democratic leader Aung San Suu Kyi. Members of the military used high-pressure water cannons to disperse the groups, and have silenced dissent by temporarily dismantling the internet Saturday. The protests are excepted to continue into the week.

Updated: 6:54 PM EST Feb 8, 2021 By Russ Reed Tom Brady continues to make NFL history and cement his status as the greatest football player of all time.Brady won his seventh Super Bowl title and fifth Super Bowl MVP award, both NFL records, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday night in their dominant 31-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.The 43-year-old quarterback captured a championship in his first season with the Buccaneers after leading the New England Patriots to six Super Bowl titles over the course of his first 20 NFL seasons. It s been a great year. Just incredibly fun, Brady said during a virtual news conference. I think in a unique way, with the coronavirus situation and all the protocols, it was really like football for junkies. There was not really a lot of other things to do other than show up to work and play football. Normally, there s a lot of other things that go along with playing football. MU students plan their Super Bowl Sunday around general COVID-19 restrictions, both on and off-campus.
The Kansas City Chiefs will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday, Feb. 7, in their second consecutive Super Bowl appearance, stirring great excitement among MU fans.
This excitement is clear in Columbia and MU. Despite the possibility of crowds in cities and increased travel between cities, the university has not widely promoted or encouraged specific COVID-19 guidelines to remain safe.
The university even appears to be encouraging in-person social gatherings on social media. MU’s Campus Activities Programming Board recently posted about hosting a watch party inside the MU Student Center with “snacks provided.”

BUFFALO, N.Y. With Super Bowl weekend upon us, that means as we make our plans for the big game, a local expert is sharing some tips on how to stay safe while also having fun.
Dr. Thomas Russo, a UB School of Medicine Infectious Disease Chief says people are going to be tempted to gather, watch the game and eat and drink, but we need to remember there is still a pandemic.
He says you should only gather with your immediate households or small social circle. He also adds that you can always meet with people virtually too through Facetime and zoom and watch the game together.
