Mt Ascutney Hospital addresses opioid crisis with medication assisted treatment and Narcan

Related Company:  Vermont Business Magazine In order to save lives from the opioid crisis affecting Windsor County, Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Care Center (MAHHC) is offering rapid access to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for people who arrive in the Emergency Department after an overdose or simply seeking help for an opioid use disorder. To provide this care a process known as MAT Induction MAHHC is working with Connecticut Valley Addiction Recovery (CVAR), an addiction treatment center in Windsor. In addition, MAHHC and CVAR are collaborating with the Vermont Department of Health to distribute the nasal-spray naloxone (Narcan) for free to the public.

Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois receives donation The Times-Reporter FREEPORT Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is the recipient of a $5 million gift from MacKenzie Scott. Scott is a philanthropist who has pledged to give back the majority of her wealth to organizations and leaders driving transformative change. She announced more than $4 billion in gifts to 384 organizations. A total of 47 of those gifts went to Goodwills across the country. A three-year Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities was awarded to Goodwill for its employment programs in 2018, which is official recognition that the organization is guided by internationally recognized service standards and best practices.  Goodwill stores in northern Illinois employ over 600 people. 

Dr Melissa Trovato | Kennedy Krieger Institute

Kennedy Krieger Institute promoted Melissa Trovato, M.D., to the position of director of rehabilitation. In this role, Trovato will oversee all medical operations related to pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation, as well as serve as a liaison with the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine while also working closely with the Institute’s future vice president of physical medicine and rehabilitation. With more than 20 years of experience at the Institute, Trovato began her career as a pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation fellow and then became a faculty member in 2001. Throughout her time at Kennedy Krieger, she has taken several leadership roles, serving as the director of inpatient rehabilitation, director of the Pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Fellowship, and chair of the Medical Staff Health Information Management Committee.
