SCPC to Investigate Suspicions Around Procurement of Vaccines from China
The State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) decided to take actions for gathering more information concerning suspicions about claims in the media in Macedonia that the government engaged a fictive company based in Hong Kong for procurement of COVID-19 vaccines from Chinese producer Sinopharm. SCPC President Biljana Ivanovska said that they will gather information and analyse the circumstances, and that other institutions like the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office should also analyse the indications in the media. 2021-03-12

International Anti-Corruption Day: SCPC’s Ivanovska Sends Message
On the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day, State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) President Biljana Ivanovska said on Wednesday that everyone should give their best without thinking about an indecent offer. According to her, through a personal example, by fighting oneself, defeating corruption is guaranteed. Government and Parliament representatives agree that what’s most important is implementation of laws, but also transparency and accountability of all institutions and organs of the administration. Justice Minister Bojan Maricic considers that it’s significant for Macedonia to show tangible results in the fight against corruption and increase the file of final verdicts in corruption cases. The Head of the EU Delegation, Ambassador David Geer, described corruption as a challenge facing all countries in the world.
