AMARAVATI: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that Andhra Pradesh will be the first state in the country to come up with the Gender Budget concept.
Participating in the International Women s Day celebrations at the camp office here on Monday, the Chief Minister virtually inaugurated Women Help Desks in all Police Stations across the State along with Cyber kiosks, launched Swechha programme to create awareness on menstrual hygiene among adolescent girls, and flagged off a fleet of 900 Disha patrolling vehicles and 18 Disha crime scene management vehicles.
The Chief Minister said that women should be given equal rights economically, socially and politically and recognise their services in bettering society. He stated that the government had introduced several schemes for the welfare of women in the state including Amma Vodi, YSR Cheyuta, YSR Asara, Kapu Nestam by spending Rs 80,0

Narsaraopeta : , Feb 25 (IANS) In yet another love story ending tragically in Andhra Pradesh, a 19-year-old youth in Andhra Pradesh s Guntur murdered a girl he purportedly was in relationship with after suspecting her of favouring someone else.
According to sources, the deceased, Anusha, 19, attended the same degree college in Narsaraopeta town as Vishnu Vardhan and both of them were believed to be in a relationship. However, he started suspecting Anusha of getting close to another boy and during a tryst on Wednesday, allegedly confronted her.

The Anantapur police on Thursday arrested two accused in the murder of SBI Credit Cards outsourced employee Snehalatha and confiscated a motorcycle used during the crime along with four cell phones.
There was a huge turnout of general public and Dalit groups at the house of Snehalatha to pay respects to the mortal remains. They poured out anger against the police for their lack of immediate action on the frantic calls to Disha App and Dial 100 by the victim’s mother.

Sathya Yesu Babu came to the house of murdered SBI employee Snehalatha, whose body was kept outside on the street, but Joint Action Committee of Dalit Organisations gheraoed them and demanded immediate suspension of I Town Circle Inspector Prathap Reddy for his alleged comments on Snehalatha and revealing her phone messages and calls to Rajesh and other detail.
Bhuvaneswari, a differently-abled woman, dies under mysterious circumstances
Andhra Pradesh Women’s Commission Chairperson Vasireddy Padma on Sunday assured the family of a 22-year-old differently-abled woman, who was charred to death under suspicious circumstances here, of rendering justice.
Ms. Padma, who visited the house of K. Janaki, mother of the woman, K. Bhuvaneswari, a ward volunteer, promised that the State government would extend all assistance to the family. Weeping inconsolably, Janaki said her daughter was not a coward to commit suicide and opined that she was done to death.
The Chairperson directed the Ongole police to thoroughly probe the case from all angles and unravel the mystery behind the death of Bhubaneswari. If the probe revealed that she had been murdered, the government would ensure stern punishment to the culprits, Ms. Padma added.
