The opposition Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), in Kogi State has taken a swipe on Governor Yahaya Bello over the collapse of Ozuma Bridge, in Okengwe, under Okene Local Government.
The PDP in a statement signed on Tuesday by the Director Media and Communication Dayo Onibiyo, described the development as sad and dangerous, noting that the collapsed Bridge in the home town of Governor Bello was unfortunate.
He said the collapsed bridge, which was allegedly constructed with substandard materials gulped several millions of naira under another wasteful scheme.
The collapsed bridge according to the PDP had further exposed road users’ lives to unnecessary dangers, rather than serve the purpose it was constructed for.

An event planner based in Abeokuta, Ogun State identified only as Bola went for a routine tyre change in the state capital sometime in 2016. She noticed the previous day that one of the tyres of her car was bad and needed replacement. Her aged but reliable Toyota Sienna never gave her any problems before then.
On getting to her regular vulcaniser’s shop, she requested a used tyre. Someone told her about what she termed the durability and safety of used tyres compared to inferior ones sold as new tyres.

Manufacturers urged to make use of SON’s labs

Manufacturers in Nigeria have been urged to make use of test laboratories of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) for testing, analysing and certifications of essential products in the country.
The Director-General of SON, Mallam Farouk Salim, made the call following international accreditation awarded to SON test laboratories recently.
The labs have been accredited after the successful completion of evaluation processes by the American Association of Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) following the recognised international standards.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony of the accredited laboratories in Lagos last week, Salim expressed delight that with the facilities in place, the nation’s export drive promises to be fruitful.
