Image Source: IANS News Gandhinagar, April 16 : The Gujarat High Court, in its order on the suo moto PIL it filed regarding the current upsurge in the Covid situation, has asked the state government to reach to the public in an honest and transparent manner so as to tackle the crisis the state is facing. A division bench of Chief Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Bhargav D. Karia, which had held a hearing on the Covid situation with Advocate General Kamal Trivedi appearing on behalf of the state government, was dissatisfied with the rosy picture painted by the government as the prevailing situation was opposite its claims.

Covid-19: BMC will check international passengers in quarantine in hotels twice a week, says new SOP | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: BMC officials will check on international passengers on their hotels twice a week when they are in institutional quarantine to ensure that they don’t escape from or break their quarantine. The BMC on Tuesday revised the Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) for handling international passengers arriving from the UK, Brazil, Europe, South Africa and Middle East into Mumbai. According to BMC rules, passengers arriving from these countries are quarantined in hotels for seven days and then allowed to leave only after they test negative for Covid-19. However in the recent days, there have been several instances where such passengers go missing from hotels where they are housed for institutional quarantine. So the BMC has revised guidelines for institutional quarantine making it mandatory for its officials to visit the hotels twice during the stay of a particular passenger followed by also maintaining a weekly report of such visits.

Offline teaching for classes IX, XI in Gujarat from February 1

532 Gandhinagar January 27 The Gujarat government on Wednesday decided to resume offline studies for classes IX and XI in its schools from February 1. Earlier, offline studies for classes X and XII was permitted from January 11. Offline tuition for all these classes have also been allowed, in addition to the online mode. Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said: The Education Department had prepared a Standard Operating Protocol on January 8 to resume offline studies for classes X and XII. The same SOP will be implemented for classes IX and XI from February 1. Similar to teaching at school, we are also permitting resumption of offline tuition classes across the state, subject to SOP and Covid guidelines. The Minister said that attendance of students in schools will not be mandatory, and that schools and colleges will have to get written consents from parents for the same.
