The latest facility in the growing city is a company that manufactures gas cylinders for homes to prevent the use of substandard cylinders, which are increasingly causing domestic accidents, some fatal, through explosions. There is growing statistics of victims of domestic gas incidents in the country. Most of these accidents result in multiple casualties. As Nigeria races to increase penetration of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the country, a combination of ignorance and substandard gas cylinders have contributed to an increasing number of domestic gas-related accidents with majority recording fatalities. In 2020 alone, media reports put the number of domestic gas explosions at over 200 nationwide.

SON seals two engine oil manufacturing sites in Kano

Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) By Sat Apr 17 2021 The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has raided and sealed two lubricant oil sites for adulteration of lubricant oil with base oil at Dakata Sauna Kawaji, Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State. The sites raided and sealed by the organisation include one company which specialised in adulterating and re-branding lubricant oil into gallons, while the other adulterated lubricant oil with base oil into drums and sold to the public. The coordinator, surveillance intelligence and monitoring unit of the SON, Sulaiman Isa, said they received instructions from their headquarters to raid the two locations and inspect the alleged claim of lubricant adulteration.
