Registration opens for filmmaker program in KSA

RIYADH: The Saudi Film Commission started receiving applications for the Digital Filmmaker Program via the British Film Industry (BFI), at the link: https://engage.moc.gov.sa./film talents. The program, which will be conducted virtually by the BFI, will provide production training to professionals and amateurs. The program offers the “professional and amateur” tracks focusing on specialization in filmmaking and will be launched online this year. Through the program, which is supported by the Ministry of Culture under the Quality of Life Program, the commission aims to give local film talent new knowledge in all areas of film production from marketing down to the concept stage to contribute to the Saudi film industry and upgrade it to higher professional levels.

Saudi Arabia opens entry for cultural ideas contest

RIYADH: The Saudi Ministry of Culture has announced the opening of electronic registration for a cultural ideas contest offering prizes of up to SR300,000 ($80,000). Participants are being asked to put forward proposals for creative and innovative activities at festivals and events being staged in the Kingdom. Cash awards will be made to entrants judged to have come up with the three best ideas and e-registration for the competition is open at https://engage.moc.gov.sa/ideathon. The country’s first Cultural Ideas Marathon is part of the Quality of Life Program that seeks to achieve the targets of the Vision 2030 reform plan and marks the launch of the activities of the ministry’s Cultural Ideas Center.

Riga win thrilling 3X3 basketball final in Jeddah

JEDDAH: Riga were the ones left standing among the deadly dozen as they won the FIBA 3X3 World Tour Jeddah Final 2020. The Latvians, who were seeded third, brought down top-seeded Liman of Serbia 21-20 in the final Saturday night with a pulsating buzzer-beater from Nauris Miezis, the Jeddah Final MVP. Miezis’ basket from beyond the arc ended the hopes of the Serbians, who needed just a field goal to win the 9th edition of the FIBA 3X3 World Tour Final at the Jeddah Corniche court. Riga thus repeated their mastery over Liman, whom they beat at the Doha Masters final last month.

Saudi Arabia allocates more than SR6 billion for urban landscape

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has allocated more than SR6 billion for urban landscape improvement projects, said Ahmed Badhris, CEO of the Center for the Quality of Life Program. He said the Quality of Life Program and Vision 2030 attach huge importance to the improvement of the Kingdom’s urban landscape. Khaled Al-Bakr, acting executive director for marketing and communication at the Quality of Life Program, said that the program seeks to upgrade various aspects of the Saudi cities so that they rank among the world’s top cities to live in. The program supervises 119 initiatives in the entertainment and recreational sectors, including in culture, sport, recreation and tourism.
