Corporate Mega-Mergers Can Hurt Economy, Taxpayers | Opinion J.D. Hayworth

While many Americans sound off on President Joe Biden s plan for the first major tax hike since 1993, including a proposal to raise corporate rates from 21 to 28 percent, few talk about how that tax increase might induce corporate mega-mergers, which could further harm the economy and taxpayers. Will more large corporations seek to combine forces? If so, will they boom or bust?
Having served for a decade on the House Ways and Means Committee, the powerful entity responsible for tax policy in Congress, I ve seen costly consequences to celebrated mega-mergers in the past.

Completion of the Integrated Baseline Review puts the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent on track for IOC by 2029, says lead contractor Northrop Grumman.
Northrop Grumman announced on 7 April that it has passed a ‘critical milestone’ by completing the Integrated Baseline Review (IBR) for the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) programme.
The review sets a benchmark for performance measurement of GBSD and keeps the programme on track for IOC with the USAF by 2029, the company added.
Using the W87 mod 1 thermonuclear warhead, GBSD will replace the LGM-30G Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
Nuclear scientist argues for refurbishing, not replacing Minuteman III missiles
Darrell Ehrlick
Frank von Hippel knows a thing or two about nuclear arms.
More than two dozen trips to Moscow during the Cold War and a lifetime of research as a nuclear scientist at an Ivy League university means that when he talks about nuclear arms, people listen. He was credited with being instrumental in the efforts to decrease the number of nuclear weapons in the waning days of the Soviet Union.
After the missile treaties were signed, von Hippel had thought his work in nuclear arms may be finishing. But now, nearly 40 years later, as more countries developed nuclear technology, he’s finding many of the old arguments, policies and battles are far from done.
