Clergy Group Alleges Excessive Force Against Sheriff s Office; Sheriff Hammond Responds Wednesday, February 17, 2021 Chattanooga Clergy and community members said they were demanding the Sheriff s Office release a public report detailing training standards and more surrounding policies of excessive force. They said they wanted this report to be sent out by March 12 at the latest. Sheriff Jim Hammond on Wednesday replied to the group. The sheriff s office recently took over operation of the Silverdale Detention Center and has made a number of sweeps at the facility seeking contraband and weapons.
