Kildare train passengers fined €100 for non-essential journeys

Gardaí today issued fines to intending train passengers at Kildare Train Station for making non-essential journeys.
Under Level 5, people are asked to stay at home, except for travel for work, education or other essential purposes, or to take exercise within 5km of home.
Two Fixed Charge Notices were issued for non essential journeys at Kildare Train Station.
In a statement issued this afternoon, An Garda Síochána said it will continue to operate a significant number of static and mobile checkpoints, as well as conduct high visibility patrolling, this weekend focused on non-essential travel.
Van driver was well over speed limit on wet roads in Naas

Naas Roads Policing detected 31 drivers on Sunday night and many were well over the speed limit.
A van was detected travelling at a speed of 96 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on wet and greasy roads.
An Fixed Charge Penalty Notice was issued to the driver.
Meanwhile, from this week, where breaches of the travel regulations are detected and a person does not comply with a direction of An Garda Síochána, a prosecution now can be commenced by means of a €100 Fixed Charge Notice.

Gardaí are investigating the organisation of a planned “protest” which saw a vehicle convoy attempt to drive from Dublin Airport to Newry in the North.
According to a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána, one male was arrested in Dublin city centre, while details of other participants were verified following lawful demands under the Health Act 1947.
