The Jacksonville Jaguars have officially given their General Manager position to Trent Baalke. Baalke began working for the Jags in February 2020 as their director of player personnel.
Although, when former GM Dave Caldwell was let go in November, the Jags named Baalke as the interim general manager for the time being.
It’s official! We have named Trent Baalke our next general manager.
Not Baalke’s First Rodeo
Baalke comes to his new position as the Jag’s GM with a solid resume of experience to back him up. From 2011 through 2016, Baalke served as general manager for the San Francisco 49ers. Within those seasons, Baalke and his 49ers played in three NFC championships and one Super Bowl. The new GM plans to bring the Jags to success as well.

I am disappointed in the Urban Meyer/Trent Baalke hire. Now it is reported that Baalke says it is hard decision on the first-round pick. So, if Baalke does not pick Lawrence, then it will be the same old Jags. Even if he does pick Trevor, I see the Jags being no better than .500 in next three years and will be looking for a new coach and general manager and franchise will set back another five years.
Are you serious? Yes, General Manager Trent Baalke during his introductory media availability Thursday said there s no such thing in the NFL as easy decisions – and Head Coach Urban Meyer indeed said the process to decide the No. 1 selection in the 2021 NFL Draft will be a deep, deep dive. Memo: This is exactly what

An elite quarterback is critical to any new head coach s success. Jimmy Johnson drafted Hall of Famer Troy Aikman for the Dallas Cowboys in the first round. Unfortunately, Steve Spurrier with Washington had no say in his quarterback options as his owner, Dan Snyder, made those decisions. Nick Saban wanted Drew Brees, but the Miami Dolphins medical staff failed Brees physical and Saban got stuck with Daunte Culpepper. Saban and Spurrier left the NFL after two years because they knew they couldn t win with the quarterbacks they had. The No. 1 reason Urban Meyer took the Jags job is Trevor Lawrence. And the ability to acquire Lawrence is significantly more important to our franchise in the long run than who the new head coach is. Your thoughts?

The Jacksonville Jaguars have hired Trent Baalke as the franchise’s general manager, the club announced Thursday.
Baalke has been serving as the team’s interim general manager since November 29, after former General Manager Dave Caldwell was fired following the team’s 10th straight loss.
“Trent Baalke has had success at virtually every level of football, notably so as a general manager who shrewdly and quickly built an NFL conference championship organization and team,” Jaguars Owner Shad Khan said. “That experience inspired us to recruit Trent to Jacksonville a year ago to serve as our director of player personnel and is one of many reasons why we are naming Trent as the new general manager of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
