4. Any given Sunday? Or Monday? Or Friday?
On paper, the Vikings are huge underdogs against the Saints, but Minnesota will try to replicate what the previously winless Jets did Sunday in upsetting the Rams and what the Bengals did against their division-leading Steelers Monday.
Cincinnati s upset of Pittsburgh may have been an even bigger surprise to end Week 15 than New York toppling Los Angeles. In any case, both games serve as a reminder that the NFL can provide shoulder-shrugging results on any given game day.
The game s rare position on a Friday will mean that the NFL has played at least one game on each day of the Week during a chaotic 2020 season marked by reschedules forced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Here are four other topics Zimmer covered during his media session:
1. Need to contain Kamara
The Vikings are preparing for a Swiss Army knife in Kamara, and they re doing so less than a week after allowing Bears running back David Montgomery to rack up 146 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Kamara through 14 games has 165 carries for 777 yards and an impressive 10 rushing touchdowns. But he also has 80 catches for 739 yards and another five scores through the air. We didn t play very well against the run [against Chicago]. We didn t tackle very well, Zimmer acknowledged. Kamara s obviously a great back. He s got really, really good feet like Dalvin [Cook]. He s hard to tackle, like Dalvin is. They use him in more variety of ways. We re just going to have to do a better job in some of the cutback and power runs than we did last week.

Weekend Eve Open Thread
Good Morning, It’s Friday!
We’re two days away from another Vikings win towards another playoff berth.or we’re two days away from another loss and fire everyone; whatever fits your narrative. Looking at the Buccaneers I don’t think the Vikings match up well, particularly against the Bucs defensive line, but I’m usually wrong so pay me no attention. Meanwhile we’ll carry on with our news and links open thread full of crockpot recipes, nap strategies and beer recommendations; drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and it’s Friday, time to get the smoker ready for the weekend, and invite me over since I’ll be working.
