Sindh ramps up coronavirus restrictions

The Sindh government on Tuesday ramped up the coronavirus restrictions as the clock struck 8. The provincial government had announced a day earlier that no unnecessary movement would be allowed after 8pm.
The decison to tighten the coronavirus curbs was taken during a Sindh Provincial Task Force meeting held on May 24, with under Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah in the chair.
The movements of vehicles shall remain restricted after 8pm, according to a corrigendum issued by the province s home department. However, people with valid reasons will be allowed to travel with a driver plus one seating arrangement.

KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced an extension in the suspension of classroom teaching for pre-nursery to Grade 12 students, from the previous May 17 resumption date to May 23, in view of the prevailing conditions of the coronavirus pandemic .
According to a notification by the School Education and Literacy Department, the principals, headmasters and headmistresses of schools, will however, call minimum staff to school premises on rotation basis so they may manage home learning activities through online classes. Homework assignments will continue to be given to students through WhatsApp, email, or in person, whatever is feasible and safe on a weekly basis so the syllabus is covered, the notification said.

KARACHI: Policymakers and academics said Tuesday Pakistan’s nurses and midwives were playing a vital role on the frontlines of the third wave of coronavirus despite the ongoing shortage of healthcare professionals in the country.
