Dissidence in the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura has once again reared its ugly head. And this time, the central BJP leadership needs to act decisively and crack down on it sternly.
A few MLAs, most of them Congress turncoats, have been opposing Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and demanding his replacement.

Biplab Deb said extensive search operation was being carried out to find the kidnapped persons.
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday gave a stern warning to insurgents saying the government will deal with them with a firm hand. Mr Deb s warning to the insurgents came four days after three construction workers were kidnapped by suspected National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) insurgents from Maldakumarpara, a remote tribal hamlet near the Indo-Bangla border in Dhalai district.
The chief minister said extensive search operation was being carried out to find the kidnapped persons.
Addressing a gathering at Kalyanpur in Khowai district organised by BJP in memory of 24 people killed in a massacre conducted by the banned All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) in 1996, Mr Deb said the government will not spare any space for the ultras .

AGARTALA: Crisis ended in the ruling BJP in Tripura with Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb calling off his public opinion test on whether he should continue in the office or not due to dissention against him within the party.
Deb cancelled the mandate event he had fixed on December 13 following intervention of BJP president J P Nadda, state observer Vinod Sonkar and the state ministers and BJP legislators reposing faith in him.

Tripura royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma has tested positive for COVID-19. “I have tested positive for coronavirus and gone in for complete isolation. I have high fever and showing symptoms like loss of smell and body achem,” he wrote on his Facebook page this evening.
Pradyot, who is the chief of Tripura Indigenous People’s Regional Alliance’s (TIPRA), a socio-politcal outfit, had been travelling across the state for the past many days over the anti-Bru settlement agitation. TIPRA is
