Hisar administration has agreed to withdraw all criminal cases against farmers within a month, farmer leaders said on Monday after talks between the two sides over last week’s clashes.
An 11-member farmer delegation lead by Rakesh Tikait have been holed up with police and district administration officials at the mini-secretariat to resolve the deadlock over a clash with police in the district that left several wounded on both sides last week.
The clash broke out just before Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was to visit the city to inaugurate a new Covid care centre.
Among prominent farmer leaders who attended the meeting were Rakesh Tikait and Joginder Singh Ugraha, Gurnam Singh Charuni, Yudhvir Singh, and Abhimanyu Kohar. Also present were some women activists.

Thousands of farmers reached Hisar on Monday responding to their leaders calls to protest against the registration of a criminal case against several of them during their clash with the police last week after the inauguration of a Covid hospital.
The Haryana police had lodged a criminal case against around 350 unnamed farmers for allegedly attacking government employees during the protest against Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar shortly after he inaugurated a Covid hospital last week.

Hisar administration said on Monday they would drop criminal charges in connection with a clash between police and farmers last week a development that comes after talks with farmer leaders earlier in the day after a massive protest in the city by farmers.
An 11-member farmer delegation lead by Rakesh Tikait held talks with police and district administration officials at the mini-secretariat to resolve the deadlock over the clash with police in the district on May 16 that left several wounded on both sides last week.
The clash broke out just before Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was to visit the city to inaugurate a new Covid care centre.

The farmers, who reached here from Hisar and many adjoining districts including Jind, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Karnal and Sonipat, gathered at Krantiman Park to demand the withdrawal of the case, lodged under the various heinous section, including the attempt to murder against farmers.
