The Premier said “difficult” decisions could be made to increase restrictions, and the settings in place were reviewed every day. “We will not hesitate to [introduce settings] even further . again, it will be based on the health advice,” she said, adding that additional measures would need to be “well targeted”. The new infections bring the total number of cases recorded in the state since June 16 to more than 1000. Sixty-seven of the new cases were in South Western Sydney Local Health District.

Both Federal government and the government of New South Wales this week announced allocation of funds to multicultural communities and media to “design and lead grass roots communication activities tailored to meet the needs of their community” in spreading the message on measures to counter the spread of COVID-19.
On Wednesday, NSW Minister for Sport, Multiculturalism, Seniors and Veterans Natalie Ward announced that the state would allocate $4million to ensure that important health measures would reach multicultural communities during the latest COVID-19 outbreak in Sydney’s south west.

A revealing graph shows how Sydney went into Covid-19 lockdown much earlier in its current outbreak than Melbourne did during its horror second wave last year.
The eastern suburbs of Australia s biggest city were locked down on the ninth day of the outbreak on June 26 when there were just 64 cases. The lockdown was extended to the whole city just two days later.
In contrast, Melbourne locked down its 10 worst-affected postcodes on day 35 of last year s outbreak on July 1, when there were already 446 cases in the community.

Greater Sydneyâs lockdown will be extended for another two weeks after NSW recorded 97 new cases, the second-highest daily total in the outbreak.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said restrictions, including online learning for schools, would remain in place until July 30 after noting 24 of the new cases were out in the community for their whole infectious period and seven for part of it.

Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant has admitted she is “concerned” about the risk of seeding events in regional New South Wales in the wake of the outbreak in Sydney and could impose further restrictions.
She noted the Berejiklian government has introduced “protective measures” in the regions such as the mask mandate.
