A 33-year-old man was shot and killed near his family s home in West Philadelphia, police said.
WEST PHILADELPHIA - Police are searching for a shooter after a man was gunned down near his family s home early Wednesday morning in West Philadelphia.
Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department found the 33-year-old victim lying on the sidewalk on the 800 block of North 50th Street with gunshot wounds to the head and chest, according to Chief Inspector Scott Small.
Officers drove the man to Penn Presbyterian Hospital where he died just after 2 a.m.

STRAWBERRY MANSION - Philadelphia police are searching for a gunman after a woman was shot in the back in the living room of a Strawberry Mansion home late Wednesday night.
Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department responded to the 2500 block of North 28th Street just before midnight for reports of a shooting, according to Chief Inspector Scott Small.
Investigators said the woman was in a first-floor living room with her boyfriend when two shots were fired. The woman, who has not been identified by police, ran upstairs and told family members that she had been shot, Small said.

A 16-year-old girl was injured in a hail of gunfire late Thursday night in West Philadelphia, police say.
WEST PHILADELPHIA - A 16-year-old girl is recovering after police said she was hit by gunfire while sitting inside a car with other women late Thursday night in West Philadelphia.
Officers were called to the area of 51st and Brown streets just before 10:30 p.m. for reports of a shooting. Police did not find any shooting victims at the scene, but officers did find a car peppered with bullets and 25 spent shells, according to Chief Inspector Scott Small.
