Image Source: IANS News Mumbai, May 13 : On anticipated lines, the Maharashtra government on Thursday announced that ithas decided to extend the ongoing stringent lockdown-type restrictions across the state till June 1. The move by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government comes amid rising Covid-19 cases and fatalities in many districts in the state, though Mumbai and parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region are currently in a better shape. As per the new directives, Mumbai suburban trains will not permit regular commuters but only those engaged in essential services and other pre-notified categories.

An order issued by Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and the Disaster Management Act, 2005 extended all previous curbs that had been imposed under the orders of April 13, 21 and 29 “till 7 a.m. on June 1.” The order mandates that any person entering the State by any mode of transport will have to carry a negative RT-PCR test report which would have to be issued a maximum 48 hours before his entry into Maharashtra. “The restrictions on persons arriving from places of ‘sensitive origins’ as per orders dated April 18 and May 1 will be applicable to anyone arrivi

Mission Oxygen: Cabinet approves special incentives to become self-reliant (ANI Photo) In an attempt to give a push to Mission Oxygen and to achieve self sufficiency, the Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, on Wednesday, approved special incentives, including exemption in cess and duties. The nature of the incentives will be decided by Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte and officers from the Departments of Finance, Public Health and Relief and Rehabilitation. The government has set an ambitious target to increase the availability of oxygen to 3,000 metric tonnes to meet the demand in the wake of a possible third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. At present, the state has its own generation capacity of 1,250 to 1,300 MT against the demand of 1,750 to 1,800 MT. The state is procuring nearly 500 to 550 MT from Bhilai, Rourkela, Jamnagar and other destinations.
