Upright: âDespite the talk of a âforever war,â US troops in Afghanistan areÂ
not embroiled in warfare. The last American combat death occurred well over a year ago. Only about 3,500 US military personnel are deployed to Afghanistan, and they are involved primarily in training and logistics. Removing those forces will gain America very little. But it will immeasurably benefit the Taliban, who will exult, with reason, at having driven out the Americans.â âJeff Jacoby
Re: The Left: âThe catastrophe now unfolding at our border is a direct result of progressive policies and pronouncements emanating from Democrats in Washington. But Democrats can end this disaster just as quickly as they caused it. All they have to do is reinstate commonsense border enforcement and stop treating U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol as a concierge service for illegal aliens.â âMike Pence

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - A community meeting was initially called for Thursday evening by Jackson City Councilman for Ward 1 Ashby Foote as a way to get feedback on the crime issues at the M-Bar Sports Grill. Instead, most of the meeting was much less zeroed in and became a discussion of larger issues in the capital city.
The topic of Jackson crime sparks an emotional reaction with many community members like Natasha Wade.

DETROIT Officers with the Detroit Police Department fatally shot a man Tuesday after he allegedly attacked an officer with a knife. According to the Associated Press, the man had already stabbed himself in the abdomen when police arrived on the scene.
When one of the officers attempted to take the knife away from the man, he stabbed the officer several times in the leg. Other officers who responded to the scene shot the man after he attacked the officer, the AP said.
“This was a horrific scene,” said Chief James Craig. “This was all the problems we’re currently dealing with, all rolled up into one case.”
