Man Charged with Murder in Shooting at Illinois Bowling Alley

(AP) Authorities say a U.S. serviceman from Florida has been charged in the deaths of three people and the wounding of three more in a shooting at an Illinois bowling alley. Winnebago County State’s Attorney J. Hanley said Sunday that 37-year-old Duke Webb has been charged with three counts of murder and three counts of first-degree attempted murder in the shooting at Don Carter Lanes, in Rockford. Saturday evening. Police Chief Dan O’Shea said at a news conference Sunday that Webb was taken into custody shortly after the shooting. O’Shea says the three men who died were aged 73, 65 and 69. He didn’t provide names.

Rockford, Illinois, bowling alley shooting: 3 dead, 3 hurt, per police

ROCKFORD, Ill. – A 37-year-old military member has been charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder after police say he gunned down multiple people at random in an Illinois bowling alley.  Three people were killed and three others were injured in the shooting, which broke out shortly before 7 p.m. local time Saturday at Don Carter Lanes, a complex with a bowling alley, bar and off-track betting site. Most of the complex was closed per COVID-19 safety protocol.  Duke Webb of Florida, who is an active U.S. Army member, is being held in the Winnebago County Jail without bond. He s scheduled to make his first court appearance Monday. He is charged with three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder.
