This demand has been brewing since the Abrogation of Article 370 which resulted in the bifurcation of J&K and Ladakh into separate administrative entities.

Executive Councillor for Works, Mubarak Shah Nagvi, Executive Councilor for Zanskar Affairs Er Phunsog Tashi besides other concerned officers were present during the meeting. General Manager, NHIDCL informed the CEC that blasting work is in progress at the Zojila Tunnel despite sub zero temperature at the site. He also informed that the draft DPRs regarding the Shinkula Tunnel has been submitted to the higher authorities with the aim of starting work on ground in the month of May-June 2021.

However, Chhewang had decided to approach the KDA to join the delegation with them.
