Carmaker Stellantis and iPhone assembler Foxconn plan to create a joint venture to supply in-car and connected-car technologies across the auto industry, they said on Tuesday.
The two companies have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to form Mobile Drive, a 50-50 joint venture based in the Netherlands focused on infotainment, telematics, and cloud service platform development.

Stellantis Chief Executive Carlos Tavares said on Thursday each of the automaker’s 14 car brands will receive funding over the next 10 years to prove themselves.
“For the time being, we love them all and you cannot kill what you love,” Tavares said at an Automotive News conference in answer to a question whether the automaker needs so many brands.

Formed in January by the merger of France s PSA and Italian-American group Fiat Chrysler, Stellantis is the world’s fourth largest carmaker with 14 brands including Opel, Jeep, Ram and Maserati, and like its peers faces an investor community keen for a road map to an electric lineup to rival Tesla .
